Abu Dhabi’s commitment towards the future of World Early Childhood Development.
WED, derived from the Arabic word ود, meaning affection or nurturing care, is Abu Dhabi’s commitment towards World Early Childhood Development.
WED brings together a passionate community of change makers, thinkers, and doers to reimagine how every child can grow up healthy, curious, and full of possibility.
Established by the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA) under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in 2021, WED facilitates the conversation around early childhood development — one that is future-facing, culturally grounded, and impact-driven. It shows how Abu Dhabi’s culture, spirit of innovation, and focus on the future can inspire all to build a better, more equitable world for every young child.
WED is brought to life through strategic initiatives, such as the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Week. These initiatives generate knowledge, mobilize action, and ignite collaboration for nurturing our young children.
WED connects ideas, people, and systems to catalyze progress. In doing so, it creates the space to shape practical solutions that improve the lives of young children, their families and the larger environment — in Abu Dhabi and beyond.
In Abu Dhabi, WED amplifies the Emirate’s commitment towards early childhood development and values. It creates opportunities for local partners, stakeholders, caregivers, and communities to learn from and contribute to enable future-ready children through international collaboration.
WED spotlights Abu Dhabi’s commitment to young children and families while connecting regional and global efforts — turning local innovation into inspiration for the world.
